Picking Up the Pieces One Heart at a Time
Helping families overcome the sorrow of infant and pregnancy loss
while embracing the gift of a new life.

Our History:
In 2012, Dereck and Savannah Leyde, founders of Taylored To You, took something deeply personal—the loss of their son, Taylor—and turned their grief into a mission to help families who found themselves facing the complicated, often unspoken journey of pregnancy after loss. After experiencing firsthand the fear, anxiety, hope, and conflicting emotions that can accompany a subsequent pregnancy, the Leyde's researched the need for greater recognition and support for families expecting again after miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss. They researched and wrote the original proclamation and brought the need for awareness to Minnesota, ultimately receiving the support of then-Governor Mark Dayton, who officially proclaimed the month of March 2012 as Pregnancy After a Loss Awareness Month, in support of Dereck and Savannah Leyde and Taylored To You, in the State of Minnesota. The proclamation recognized that families may continue to experience grief, confusion, anxiety, guilt, and fear while simultaneously embracing the gift of new life, and affirmed the importance of education, compassion, and resources for bereaved families.

What began with the Leydes simply wanting to honor Taylor and help another family feel less alone has grown into years of service through Taylored To You, whose mission remains “Picking Up the Pieces, One Heart at a Time”—helping families navigate infant and pregnancy after loss while embracing the gift of a new life. Through Rainbow Belly Maternity Sessions, resources, education & awareness, advocacy, and countless small acts of compassion, Dereck and Savannah have continued walking beside families through the delicate space where grief and hope exist together. As Savannah has reflected, Taylored To You was born from the desire to honor Taylor's life, and the organization has spent the years since transforming that love into support for others. March will always mean something deeply personal to our family—not simply because it represents an awareness month, but because it represents the moment when our family's heartbreak became a promise: that no parent should have to navigate pregnancy after loss feeling unseen, misunderstood, or alone. To deepen the personal connection, not only was Taylor Leyde stillborn in the month of March, the Leyde Family has welcomed every single one of their Rainbow Babies during the month of March. In March of 2008, their very first rainbow baby was born on Taylor's funeral anniversary of March 6th. In 2013, they welcomed their 2nd Rainbow Baby on March 8th, and in 2018, they welcomed their 3rd Rainbow Baby, also born on March 8th. March has certainly become a grand depiction of loss and hope while showcasing that grief and hope can co-exist.
